Enrolment Procedure
- There are no course fees for FLP students and this is explained on enrolment.
- The student is asked about their past work and experiences and study and/or training, and what kind of employment they wish to pursue when their English is good enough.
- Prior learning is determined by asking the student and verifying with previous provider or NZQA records via the Internet. PEETO internal placement assessment shows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and current learning where units haven’t been assessed and/or achieved already.
- Pathways beyond PEETO and services such as the PEETO Employment and Further Training Placement Officers and open door policy are explained.
- A learning contract is explained and signed by the student and tutor.
- A medical form is given to the student to fill in for PEETO records.
- The Foundation Learning Programmes Class Handbook is then discussed with the student or interpreted (if the student is enrolling after the beginning of the course). The student signs a declaration form stating that they have understood the contents of the FLP Class Handbook.
- Students are advised of class times and venue, if the course they are enrolled in is delivered off-site, and where possible are introduced to their tutor prior to beginning. For students enrolling in FLP courses delivered at PEETO orientation of school premises and facilities takes place.
