PEETO strongly recommends that all students carefully consider a comprehensive insurance
package for their stay in New Zealand. The following is the Ministry Of Education's statement:
"Most International students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand unless they are:
A residents or citizens of Australia: or
A national of the United Kingdom in New Zealand; or
The holder of a temporary permit that is valid for two years or more.
If you do not belong to one of these special categories and you receive medical treatment during your visit, you will be liable for the full costs of that treatment. We strongly recommend that you have insurance that will cover the cost of medical treatment in New Zealand for the duration of your stay in New Zealand. We also strongly recommend that you obtain insurance to cover your travel to and from New Zealand".
Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the New Zealand Government Ministry of Health, and can be viewed at www.moh.govt.nz/healthsystem
Indemnity insurance is included in a travel and health insurance package to the value of NZ$ 30,000 and covers the student fees in the unlikely event of the closure of the school due to a range of unforeseeable factors. PEETO assists with this Insurance Plan and more detailed information is given on request.
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed at www.acc.co.nz/claims/am-i-covered
PEETO complies with New Zealand Government NZQA requirements to protect student fees. Student fees are not at risk in the event of the closure of PEETO. PEETO Asia Pacific English Language College operates a trust account with Neil France Ltd - Chartered Accountants for the protection of student fees. This provides sufficient funds to be retained, at any particular point in time, to enable fee paying students to be refunded their fees from the money administered in the trust account if, on the occurrence of an unforeseeable event that PEETO should be unable to provide courses to fee paying students because our organisation has closed.
Details are available from PEETO administration should further information about fee protection be required.
If a student wishes to add to, withdraw or change their course of study, it is suggested that
the student discuss this first with PEETO administration, who are well positioned to offer
quality advice and assistance. The following policy applies to withdrawals:
If enrolment is cancelled before the nominated starting date, fees will be refunded except for NZ$500.00 or 10% of the payment whichever is the lesser.
For courses up to four weeks, if the student withdraws within the first two days of the course, 50% of the tuition fees will be refunded.
For courses of five to thirteen weeks, if the student withdraws within the first five
days of the course, 75% of the tuition fees will be refunded.
For courses of 13 weeks or more, if the student withdraws within the first eight days
from the first day of the course, all fees will be refunded except for $NZ500.00 or 10% whichever is the lesser.
After the above withdrawal deadlines, no fees will be refunded.
We do not refund fees or give a free extension of the course if the student;
Arrives late for the course without notifying PEETO
Takes time off from the course (unless by prior arrangement)
Leaves before the course is finished
We do not give extra weeks of part-time study in place of pre-paid full time study.
If PEETO requires a student to leave PEETO for not complying with the conditions of enrolment, tuition fees will not be refunded if such requirement is after the first eight days of study.
If there is withdrawal from the booked course, PEETO is obliged to inform the New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS) that the student has withdrawn from PEETO.
After a refund it will be the student responsibility to change their Visa status with the NZIS, as the Visa is valid only for the course booked.
Refunds on compassionate grounds may be granted at the discretion of the Co-Directors of PEETO.
