Cultural Orientation

PEETO is the only organization in New Zealand, funded by the New Zealand Government, to provide such an interpreted course.  The course is for new migrants and also for people who have lived in New Zealand for a time.

We provide nine x 3-hour sessions to attendees and the attendees can choose at least six sessions and up to all 9 of the topics. The topics covered in the course are areas which people would like to know more about.

This Cultural Orientation programme is designed to facilitate resettlement and socialisation in NZ and each presentation is interpreted. The focus of the programme is to introduce learners to information on the following topics:

• Rest-homes / Retirement Village
• Community services
• Medicine Management
• Family Violence
• Safe Christchurch
• Primary Health
• Volunteering Opportunities
• Treaty of Waitangi
