New Zealand Certificate in English Language (General) (Level 3)
Peeto offers the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL) classes for both domestic and international students. NZCEL provides a clear pathway to progress your English language skills for further studies and work in New Zealand.
You will gain a nationally recognized qualification issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) to assist you in applying to higher academic institutions or employers.

Outcomes:
On completion of this programme, graduates will be able to demonstrate the following outcomes:
- Understand main points and some specific details of oral texts on reasonably familiar topics.
- Participate with some confidence in spoken discourse on reasonably familiar topics.
- Understand main points and some specific details of written texts on reasonably familiar topics.
- Write connected texts on reasonably familiar topics.
- Show increasing independence when using English in familiar contexts
- Have an increasing knowledge of New Zealand culture
Entry requirement:
In order for students to be accepted into this programme they are required to:
- be 16 years or over
- undertake an internal placement test or
- have previously gained the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2)
- take part in a selection interview

This programme leads to the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Applied) (Level 3) [Ref: 3667-2] and facilitates meeting the language requirements for other study or training programmes/courses at New Zealand Qualifications Framework Level 3 or below.

Graduates will have the English language skills to work in positions that require:
- participation in face-to-face interpersonal communication
- response to written instructions and informational texts
production of simple, context-specific record-keeping
