New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1)
Peeto offers the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL) classes for both domestic and international students. NZCEL provides a clear pathway to progress your English language skills for further studies and work in New Zealand.
You will gain a nationally recognized qualification issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) to assist you in applying to higher academic institutions or employers.

Outcomes:
On completion of this programme, graduates will be able to demonstrate the following outcomes:
- Understand frequently used spoken expressions and simple sentences on areas of most immediate personal relevance in predictable everyday situations
- Participate in short spoken discourse of immediate personal relevance for social and transactional purposes in predictable everyday situations
- Understand specific predictable informat ion in simple everyday written texts
- Write short simple texts relating to personal and everyday topics relevant to daily life
- Communicate in simple English
- Be more confident in social situations
- Have some knowledge of NZ culture
Entry requirement:
In order for students to be accepted into this programme they are required to:
- be 16 years or over
- undertake an internal placement test or
- have previously gained the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Foundation) (Level 1)
- take part in a selection interview
